Captain Amarinder Singh wrote an emotional letter to Sonia Gandhi in which he also accused Rahul and Priyanka Vadra of "patronising" Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Chandigarh: Former Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh, who resigned from the Congress on Tuesday and announced the name of his new political outfit, has alleged a ''midnight conspiracy'' by top party leaders to oust him in an emotional letter addressed to interim Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
In his seven-page resignation letter, Amarinder slammed the Gandhis for hatching a "conspiracy" to oust him from the state government. While lashing out at Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu and senior party leader Harish Rawat, Amarinder Singh also highlighted his achievements as chief minister in his letter.
Singh, in his letter, claimed that Sonia Gandhi despite knowing him "for the better part of his 52 years in public life" and "that too at a deeply personal level", never "understood" him or his "character". "You thought I was getting on in years and should be put to pasture. I am neither tired nor retired. I feel I have a lot to give and contribute to my beloved Punjab. I intend to soldier on and not fade away," wrote Singh.
