MI vs LSG: Mumbai Indians include four foreigners in their XI for the first time in IPL 2022

MI had not been playing their full quota of foreigners this season, but chose to bench Basil Thampi for their match against LSG
Mumbai Indians (MI) are arguably the strongest team in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), having won the title as many as five times. But for the last two seasons, Rohit Sharma and Co. have strained to find their feet. After failing to qualify for the playoffs in 2021, the Mumbai-based team are yet to win a single match in the ongoing edition of the T20 championship.
Having lost all five of their matches, Rohit’s men are tottering at the bottom of the points table with a poor net run rate. MI have well and truly strained to find their apt winning combination thus far. In fact, MI didn’t field their full quota of foreign players in their first five games. The tactic of chopping and changing way too many times didn’t work for them by any means.
However, for the first time on Saturday, April 16, MI included all four of their foreign players in the eleven in the match against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. They included Kieron Pollard, Dewald Brevis, Tymal Mills and Fabian Allen in their playing eleven.
Allen, who earlier played for the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL, made his debut for the Mumbai Indians. The spin-bowling all-rounder got his cap from MI vice-captain Kieron Pollard, who’s also his skipper in the West Indies ODI and T20I teams.
Allen has done well for the Caribbean team at the highest level and for the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League (IPL). MI, in the meantime, will be looking to get their first points and open their account in the tournament.
