Tim David played a rapid 34 off 11 balls in the late overs of the Mumbai innings to rob Delhi Capitals off a playoffs spot.
Delhi Capitals' captain Rishabh Pant's blunder with the Decision Review system cost Delhi a playoffs spot in the Indian Premier League on Saturday, 21 May.
Playing their final league stage game against Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals had the momentum going in the second half of the game. Chasing 160 runs from 20 overs, MI were below the required run-rate in the 15th over of the game due to a struggling innings from Rohit Sharma.
After dismissing 19-year-old Dewald Brevis in the third ball of the 15th over, Delhi knew that they could have a shot if Singaporean Australian cricketer - Tim David went back in the hut early in his innings.
They were plated up the opportunity by Shardul Thakur, whose outswinger kissed the edge of David's bat in the very first ball of his innings and went to the keeper - captain Rishabh Pant.
Pant appealed straightaway but the on field umpire was not convinced.
Despite having two reviews at the time, Pant decided against a review after his fielders did not give him strong input if they had heard any sound or not.
Pant chose against the review and regretted in the very next second after the highlights on the big screen showed that there was a big spike on the snicko-metre once the ball passed the bat.
