Metro man Sreedharan opposes Kerala govt's Silver Line project
India Today
Metro man E Sreedharan has once again criticised the Kerala government on the Silver Line project. The project envisages semi high-speed railway line passing through 11 districts.
E Sreedharan has criticised the Kerala government’s Silver Line semi-high speed project, saying the project has no specific outline and it will lead to environmental disasters.
'Metro man' Sreedharan said, "’Silver Line project has no specific outline other than on Google Maps." The Silver Line project envisages a 529 km long semi-high speed railway line passing through 11 districts.
Sreedharan, while inaugurating the anti-K-rail convention in Kochi, said the project will lead to environmental disasters. The Kerala government is moving ahead with the project without studying the socio-environmental impacts and the project would not benefit the high-speed railways, he said.
Sreedharan said, "To make this rail project a reality, it would have to be backed up by an eight-foot-high, four-kilometre-long wall. It takes Rs 8 crore to build a wall in one kilometre. You need a subway and an overbridge to get to the other side. None of these construction costs were included in the Detailed Project Report (DPR)."

According to him, the project would disrupt the flow of water and cause environmental damage. Sreedharan said the project would directly affect at least 20,000 people in the state.
Many Kerala BJP leaders participated in the anti-K-Rail convention. Metro Man has been selected as the chairman of BJP's K Rail protest committee.
