Mentally ill minor raped inside factory in Delhi’s New Seelampur

A minor girl, suffering from mental illness, was raped by a 41-year-old man inside a factory close to her house in northeast Delhi’s New Seelampur area on Friday.
A 9-year-old girl was raped by a 41-year-old man who worked in a factory close to her house in northeast Delhi’s New Seelampur area. The victim was mentally ill, said police.
Police were informed about the incident at around 11.15 AM on Friday, following which they reached the spot and the victim was shifted to JPC Hospital for medical examination.
Medical reports confirmed that the minor had been raped. Subsequently, a rape case was registered against the accused under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and an investigation was taken up.
Probe revealed that the accused, identified as Mohd Shajid, a resident of Narwada village in Bihar's Begusarai, used to work in a small factory located very close to the victim's residence.
It was on Friday that the girl was playing on the street when the accused lured her and took her to the factory where he raped her.
Police have arrested the accused.
