
Mental health patients rose by 5% during Covid pandemic in Agra

A study at a mental health hospital in Agra revealed that over the last 18 months of the Covid pandemic, mental patients have increased by 5 per cent. Of these, 1.5 per cent still appears to be suffering from mental illnesses.
According to sources at Agra's Institute of Mental Health and Hospital, in the 18 months of the Covid pandemic, mental patients have increased by 5 per cent. Of these, 1.5 per cent still appears to be suffering from mental illnesses. Even on hearing the word coronavirus, some of them start trembling and panicking, said doctors.
Dr. Dinesh Rathore at Agra’s Institute of Mental Health and Hospital said that according to the WHO, 7 per cent of India’s population suffers from mental disorders. Of these, 3 per cent requires hospital admissions.
