Mehul Choksi claims Barbara, mercenaries were hired to 'abduct' him from Antigua

In a complaint to Antigua Police, fugitive Mehul Choksi has claimed that his rumoured girlfriend Barbara Jabarica was part of a plot to 'abduct' him, resulting in his subsequent arrest in Dominica.

Mehul Choksi has sought the intervention of Antigua Police to probe the circumstances that resulted in his arrest in Dominica. In a complaint to the Antigua Police, the 62-year-old fugitive diamond trader claims he is an Antiguan citizen and was forcibly brought to Dominica. Choksi was on Monday remanded in custody at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital where he is being held ahead of his bail hearing slated for June 14. He was arrested for illegally entering Dominica and has been in custody since. Dominica's Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, also issued his first public statement on the detention of Mehul Choksi on Monday. "Due process will be followed in dealing with Mr Choksi," said Skerrit.
