Meerut Police filed a case against a doctor who was accused of molesting a 12-year-old girl. Police said that the accused, Gagan Agarwal, is missing from the clinic he runs.
According to sources, Gagan Agarwal runs his own clinic in Meerut’s Ganga Nagar area. A 12-year-old girl came to the hospital for treatment on Monday, September 12, along with her mother, who is a teacher, and her uncle.
It was alleged that the accused took the girl to a room in the clinic under the pretext of treatment and molested the girl's private parts. Upon reaching home, the victim informed her family about the incident. The girl's family reached the Ganga Nagar police station and filed a complaint regarding the same.
Based on this, officials registered a case against the accused under sections of the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the SC-ST Act and began investigating the matter.
The mother had reportedly divorced her husband and was living with her parents in Meerut. The 12-year-old girl was complaining of fever, vomiting and a sore throat on Monday afternoon, following which she was taken to the hospital.
According to Meerut Superintendent of Police, Rural, Keshav Kumar, “A case has been registered based on the complaint given by the family. The case is being investigated. The doctor is not available at his clinic. CCTV footage from the clinic is also being examined.”
Further investigations are underway.
