Oslo: Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs H E Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi affirmed that the effectiveness of mediation is evident in its ability to reduce tensions, prevent escalations, and build lasting peace.
In his opening speech at the Oslo Forum, which kicked off today in Oslo, Norway, His Excellency said that mediation embodies the principles of diplomacy and international cooperation by prioritising communication and compromise, making it an indispensable tool for resolving disputes peacefully.
Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Norway H E Jonas Gahr Store attended the session as well as President of the Federal Republic of Somalia H E Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia H E Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi.
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs pointed out that an effective mediator possesses the diplomatic skills, strategic vision, and commitment to the required neutrality, adding that at the forefront of the characteristics of an effective mediator is a deep understanding of international relations, cultural differences, and complex dynamics within countries as well as between them and their neighbours.
