Rally promotes mediation centers for resolving disputes peacefully, with judges, lawyers, and court staff advocating for early resolutions.
A rally aimed at raising public awareness about the role of mediation centres in amicably settling disputes was held here on Wednesday.
Principal District and Sessions Judge B. Murugesan flagged off the rally at the Integrated Court Complex that concluded at the Collectorate premises. Organised by the District Mediation Centre, the rally saw the participation of judges, mediators, lawyers, and court staff. Participants carried placards highlighting that mediation offers early resolution of disputes and that issues involving individuals, money, family, property, cheque bounce cases, labour welfare, and civil matters can be effectively resolved through mediation centres.
These centres operate within court premises, and members of the public—either in person or through a lawyer—can request for their cases to be referred to a mediation centre.
Chief Judicial Magistrate S. Ramachandran, V.P. Sugandhi, Chairperson of the District Mediation Centre, R. Srividya, Secretary and Senior Civil Judge, along with other judges, magistrates, mediators, and court staff participated in the rally.
