Mattel Addresses 'Misprint' On 'Wicked' Doll Packaging That Leads To Porn Site

The company advised those who have purchased the dolls "to discard the product packaging or obscure the link."
Mattel said it “deeply” regrets a product packaging error in which an incorrect link on the package for dolls for the “Wicked” film led to a porn site.
“Mattel was made aware of a misprint on the packaging of the Mattel ‘Wicked’ collection dolls, primarily sold in the U.S., which intended to direct consumers to the official WickedMovie.com landing page,” Mattel told HuffPos in a statement on Sunday. The packaging instead omits the word “movie” in the URL, according to viral photos of the boxes online, and leads to a porn site called “Wicked” that requires users to be over 18 to enter.
“We deeply regret this unfortunate error and are taking immediate action to remedy this,” Mattel continued, adding “Parents are advised that the misprinted, incorrect website is not appropriate for children. Consumers who already have the product are advised to discard the product packaging or obscure the link and may contact Mattel Customer Service for further information.”
While the dolls’ retail prices are between $24.99 and $39.99, eBay sellers have already begun selling the products with the incorrect domain for $100 to $800, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
