Sometimes, people don't understand or get confused about the new-age or millennial lingo that is the fad nowadays. Something similar happened with an eighth grade maths teacher. She got quite worried over the fact that her students called her goat. She turned to the internet for help and her sweet reaction upon knowing the meaning has gone viral online.
The maths teacher shared a post on Reddit and explained her situation. She informed that her students called her goat as a running joke throughout the year. She also mentioned that she was taking part in a joke that she didn't get, so she wanted to know the meaning of the same.
"Throughout this whole past school year there was this running joke where the students would call me the goat. And I would reply each time that they were goats and they would all laugh. It was pretty funny to be honest, and I never gave it much thought. But I realized that I had been partaking in a joke that I never actually got. I had a good connection with them, and they are all really good kids, so I don't really think that they were making fun of me," she wrote in her original post. "Can someone (maybe an 8th grader) explain this joke to me?" the teacher added.
Her post swiftly garnered a lot of attention and a ton of replies from users. Several of them told her that the meaning of GOAT is actually the Greatest Of All Time.
"It means Greatest Of All Time," a user wrote.
Another user commented, "GOAT stands for Greatest Of All Time. It’s a compliment. Sounds like you’re a great teacher and they enjoy your classes. Which is saying something, since math is most people’s least favorite subject."
