A massive fire engulfed a subdivision that is under construction in Vaughan on Wednesday, appearing to destroy numerous homes.

York Regional Police told Global News emergency crews were called to Heathcote Road, located in the area of Pine Valley Drive and Teston Road, at 1 p.m.
Images on social media showed a huge plume of black smoke coming from the scene.
Video from the Global News chopper showed rows of homes under construction severely damaged or destroyed by the blaze.
A statement from the City of Vaughan Vaughan Fire and Rescue Services were on scene dealing with “multiple fires.”
No injuries were reported.
“Members of the public are asked to avoid the area as crews continue to respond,” the statement said.
There is no word on what may have caused the blaze.
