Massive fire breaks out at Rave Moti Mall in Kanpur, no casualties reported

A fire at one of Kanpur's biggest shopping complexes, Rave Moti Mall, triggered a panic on Sunday afternoon. Six fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the flames and no one was injured in the incident.
A massive fire broke out on the second floor of Kanpur's biggest and most visited shopping arcade, Rave Moti Mall, on Sunday. Fire tenders immediately rushed to the spot to bring the blaze under control and in a joint operation with police personnel, the mall was evacuated.
The fire was reported from the second floor of the mall and within no time, the flame engulfed the premises. However, no casualties have been reported and no one was hurt in the incident.
According to preliminary information, police said that fire initially broke out at Big Bazar and spread to other parts of the mall. Following the blaze, fire tender officials were immediately alerted and the mall authorities also used fire extinguishers to douse the flames.
The fire triggered panic and chaotic scenes were witnessed at the site. Hundreds of people were inside the mall when thick smoke started billowing out of the mall, triggering a ruckus as everybody ran for safety.
Six fire tenders reached the spot and evacuated the people stuck inside and the connection to the gaspipe line was cut off to prevent the spread of fire.
Joint Commissioner, Anand Prakash Tiwari, told India Today, "The first and second floors of the mall caught fire and now the situation has been brought under control. No one has been reported hurt so far. The cause of the fire is not known. We will launch an investigation to ascertain the cause."
A Civil Defence official said that we had thoroughly checked the mall and no one was inside.
