Frederick County Fire Department Capt. Joshua Laird has died after responding to a two-alarm house fire in Maryland on Wednesday, according to authorities.
"Words cannot describe my heartbreak over Captain Josh Laird’s tragic death," Frederick County Executive Jan Gardner said in a Thursday statement. "He touched many lives during his long career with Frederick County. We often take for granted the bravery our firefighters show every day. Tonight, sadly, we are reminded of how dangerous the job really is. Josh is a hero." Garder asked the public to keep Laird's wife, children and family, as well as all of Frederick County's firefighters, "in their prayers during this most difficult time."More Related News
