Market associations to run parking lots in Chandigarh; MC to transfer management

The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (MC) is all set to transfer the management and running of parking lots in all the internal markets to the market associations.
In a bid to provide better organised market parking and to make parking lots more attractive to shoppers, the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (MC) is all set to transfer the management of running of parking lots in all the internal markets to the concerned associations.
According to a report published in the Tribune, the MC has prepared a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect to discuss the modalities for parking operation and handover. The agenda will be discussed at the MC General House meeting for approval on November 12. As per the reports, the associations will either run these parking lots free of cost or charge very low rates.
