Maritime Electric struggling with lingering power outages after icy storm
CBC
There were still more than 500 Maritime Electric customers without power in eastern P.E.I. Friday morning after a messy winter storm Thursday.
The outages were mostly in Kings County, scattered along the North Shore.
At 5:30 a.m. AT, about 1,700 customers were without electricity. The utility had successfully restored more than 1,000 customers, but at 7:30 a.m. Maritime Electric was still searching for the cause of the remaining few hundred outages.
In an email to CBC News, the utility said crews were still making assessments, but did expect to have everyone back on Friday.
Thursday's storm brought a mix of rain, freezing rain, ice pellets and snow to the Island. The North Shore saw more freezing rain than most areas.
