Director Mari Selvaraj took to social media to issue a statement regarding the Pandarathi Puranam song controversy. A resident of Madurai filed a petition in Madurai High Court stating that the word Pandarathi could insult a certain section of people. He also wanted the film to be banned till the song is removed. Responding to the Court, Mari said that he has changed the title of the song to Manjanathi Puranam.
