Mandir-masjid row: VHP claims dargah in Karnataka’s Bidar was Basavanna temple

The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has claimed that a dargah in Basavakalyan in Karnataka’s Bidar district was actually a Basavanna temple.
A fresh mandir-masjid row has cropped up in Karnataka’s Bidar district, as the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) claimed that a dargah in Basavakalyan was actually a Basavanna temple.
The VHP has demanded that the government intervene in the dispute and grant justice to the followers of Basavanna. The Hindu outfit claimed there was clear evidence that the dargah was historically a temple.
Speaking to India Today, VHP district president Ramakrishna said, “It is Basavanna's Anubava Mantapa, during the Nizam's rule it was encroached upon and he used it. It is an, there are documents and proof of Anubhava Mantapa available in that spot even today. There is a pushkarini (stepwell) and other signs like kalasha (spire) of temple”.
