Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo assaulted during robbery at home

Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo was left with cuts and bruising around his right eye after being attacked by four people during a burglary at his home on Thursday night.

Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo said on Thursday he was assaulted during a robbery and posted a picture of himself on Instagram with a cut above his right eye. The Portugal defender revealed that he fought back while protecting his family. He has a 2-year-old daughter, Alicia, with his partner Daniela Machado.

Cancelo did not mention where the incident took place but the club later said it happened at the 27-year-old's home.
