Manasi Ghosh wins ‘Indian Idol’ Season 15; Subhajit Chakraborty and Sneha Shankar take second and third positions

Manasi Ghosh wins ‘Indian Idol’ Season 15; Subhajit Chakraborty and Sneha Shankar take second and third positions

Manasi Ghosh, a contestant from Kolkata, was crowned the winner of the 15th season of Sony’s popular reality competition, Indian Idol

Manasi Ghosh, a contestant from Kolkata, was crowned the winner of the 15th season of Sony’s popular reality competition, Indian Idol, on Sunday (April 6). With the win, the 24-year-old singer takes home a trophy, ₹25 lakhs cash prize and a car.

Manasi defeated Subhajit Chakraborty and Sneha Shankar to clinch the victory. After winning the competition, an emotional Manasi spoke to Indian Express, crediting her mother for encouraging her to pursue her passion. Notably, Manasi’s parents had joined her on the grand stage, speaking about the difficulties she faced in her journey.

“My family was here for the finale. They were crying and cheering. I was blank, not knowing initially how to react. But all of us are really happy. Life has changed in a good way. It’s a national platform, so I got a lot of love and blessings from all over,” said Manasi, adding that she plans on using her case prize to fund her indie music dreams.

Further, Manasi also credited the judges of the show — Shreya Ghoshal, Vishal Dadlani, and Badshah — stating that their feedback helped her. “I always looked up to Badshah Sir and Vishal Sir. Shreya Mam was also very sweet and elaborate on her comments which I loved, but Vishal sir was straight-forward and on the face. Whenever he was impressed, he would be the first one to give me a standing ovation,” Indian Express quoted Manasi.

“This show has taught me to both learn and unlearn. Even if you get bad comments, you cannot carry that to your next performance. You have to forget everything that happens and focus on the work,” she added.

Meanwhile, Subhajit Chakraborty became the runner-up, and Sneha Shankar became the second runner-up of Indian Idol 15. Notably, Sneha had made headlines ahead of the finale after T-Series’s Bhushan Kumar surprised her with a recording contract.
