A BJP MLA on Saturday claimed that the man who hurled eggs at Siddaramaiah's car was a Congress worker.
The controversy over the protests against the Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka assembly, Siddaramaiah, during his recent visit to Kodagu took a new twist on Saturday with a BJP MLA claiming that the man who hurled eggs at his car was a Congress worker.
A man hurled eggs at Siddaramaiah’s car on Thursday during his visit to the Kodagu district to inspect rain-related damage.
The BJP MLA from Madikeri in the Kodagu district, Appachu Ranjan, said that it was found that Sampath, the man arrested by the police for throwing eggs, was a Congress worker.
Ranjan said the accused worked in the construction industry as a bar-bender. However, his father Sundarmurthy was in the BJP.
Sampath was among a number of BJP activists who were arrested for staging a protest against Siddaramaiah on August 18.
Responding to the MLA’s claims, Sampath said he is indeed a Congress worker and was upset with his party leader Siddaramaiah’s alleged remarks made in the past that the Kodavas eat beef.
Congress contended that the accused Sampath was a BJP worker and a close aide of Appachu Ranjan.
