Man sought for attempted murder in Charlottetown stabbing investigation

Charlottetown police have released the photo of a man they say is wanted on a charge of attempted murder, after a stabbing in the city early Monday morning.
A news release just before 5 p.m. AT said the suspect in the stabbing at a King Street residence is Michael Arthur Gaudet, 37. "He is currently at large and wanted," the release said. "A warrant for his arrest was issued this afternoon." Officers responded to the incident at 6 a.m. and the victim was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Police said they do not believe her condition is life-threatening. Charlottetown's major crime unit, forensic identification unit, and RCMP Police Dog Services were on the scene Monday morning. The release noted the suspect has an extensive criminal record including a history of violent crimes. "The circumstances of this incident appear to be isolated and do not suggest any immediate or ongoing threat to the public," the release said, asking anyone who sees the man to call 911.More Related News
