The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is investigating after Calgary police shot a man in the leg following a disturbance in the northeast community of Temple.
At 6:55 p.m. on Thursday, police were notified about an armed man acting erratically.
Officials say the man was seen following a person while holding a gun, pointing it at another person, striking someone else with the weapon and attempting to seize a different victim's car.
Five minutes later, police arrived in the 0-100 block of Templebow Way N.E. and confronted the suspect.
During the course of the interaction, one of the officers opened fire, hitting the man in the leg.
He was arrested and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
No police officers or members of the public were hurt.
