Man hospitalized, at least $270K in damage caused by Moose Jaw, Sask., fire: police

A man is in hospital and two homes are significantly damaged after a fire ignited in Moose Jaw, Sask., Saturday afternoon, police say.
The Moose Jaw Police Service was called to a house fire on the 1000 block of Willow Avenue, in the Hill Crest area, shortly after 1 p.m. CST Saturday, according to a news release issued Saturday evening.
A 23-year-old man, who was able to escape from the home, was treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation before paramedics took him to hospital.
The damage to the home that caught fire is estimated around $270,000, police said. The neighbouring house also suffered "severe fire damage," but an estimate was unavailable at the time.
The fire's cause is under investigation, but police deemed it isn't suspicious.
The Canadian Red Cross is providing support to the families from both homes.
Moose Jaw is a city roughly 70 kilometres west of Regina.
