Man having links with Dawood Ibrahim arrested for financing terror activities

An accomplice of fugitive gangster Anees Ibrahim, brother of Dawood Ibrahim, has been arrested by the Maharashtra ATS for financing terror activities. The accused will be produced for remand in court.
The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism squad (ATS) has arrested a 40-year-old accomplice of fugitive gangster Anees Ibrahim on charges of financing terror activities for carrying out anti-national activities in the country. Anees Ibrahim is the brother of Dawood Ibrahim, a fugitive gangster and a global terror financer.
ATS officials said that the accused, Parvez Zubair Vaid Memon (47), has been arrested and will be produced for remand in court.
The probe by ATS revealed that Dawood Ibrahim's brother Anees Ibrahim and their accomplices living abroad were using the money earned from illegal activities to carry out terrorist activities in India. This is the latest case against gangsters Dawood Ibrahim and Anees Ibrahim in the country.
The gang provided money to banned organisations in India and also to those accused involved in anti-India activities through their Indian handlers. The ATS has registered an FIR against Anees Ibrahim and his accomplice at Kalachowki police station under sections 17 and 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, (UAPA).

Acting on a tip-off, police took Parvez Zubair Ved Memon (47), who was taken into custody on August 3, 2022, from his residence in Versova in Mumbai's Andheri West due to his active involvement.
During the interrogation, it was revealed that he was dealing in drugs like MDMA, Ketamine, LSD). The accused was found to be involved in a conspiracy to provide funds derived from the drug trade and other illegal activities to organizations involved in anti-national activities and persons for carrying out terrorist activities in India.
