Man dead after shooting in east end Toronto

A man is dead after a shooting in east-end Toronto on Friday afternoon, police and paramedics say.
The shooting happened in the area of Danforth and Donlands avenues. Police were called to the area at about 3:15 p.m.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the shooter has fled the area. There's no word on a description.
Duty Insp. Lori Kranenburg, spokesperson for the Toronto Police Service, said a couple of males were seen fleeing the area and are believed to have gotten into an SUV type vehicle that was either grey or silver.
"I don't have any information right now at this time how many people were actually involved in the shooting. But it was a busy time of day. There was a lot of people out and about today," she said.
Four nearby schools were placed in a hold and secure following the shooting but the order has been lifted now, she said.
The homicide unit has taken over the investigation, and there is a large police presence in the area.
Police are urging anyone with information, who has dashboard camera video or who was walking in the area, to come forward.
Danforth Avenue is closed from Jones Avenue to Greenwood Avenue as officers continue to investigate.
