Man accused of harassing, assaulting women gets bail again

A man accused of following and harassing multiple women and assaulting one was granted bail in a London, Ont., courtroom again on Tuesday, despite the fact that he breached his previous release conditions twice.
However, Saranjeet Singh, 22, will spend the holidays in jail as his lawyer tries to find him a residential surety — someone he can live with and who will supervise him while he's out on bail.
Singh has been in jail since Nov. 13, when he breached a previous release order. He has been at the Middlesex London Detention Centre.
This latest release has identical conditions to his previous bail conditions, with the exception that he has to live with his surety.
The details of today's bail hearing are covered under a publication ban, including the reasons for Singh's release.
Singh was already facing a slew of criminal harassment charges involving young women when he was arrested in mid November after a woman was assaulted.
Singh's bail conditions include having to live with his surety and follow that person's rules, a curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. except when he's with his surety, and not going into a part of London bound by Fanshawe Park Road to the north, Adelaide Street to the east, Queens Ave and Riverside Drive to the South and Wonderland Road to the west.
He is also not allowed to come close to the women who have accused him of harassment and he can't buy or consume cannabis products.
Singh's next court date is January 18.
Previously, London police issued a public warning about Singh when he was released from jail on Nov. 5. In that instance, he had a surety but did not have to live with that surety.
Singh was in custody after being arrested on Oct. 23 for allegedly following a 21-year-old woman walking to a residence on Patricia Street, near Huron and Richmond Streets.
Police say a man parked his car in a driveway and knocked on the door repeatedly before the woman called police and Singh was arrested.
There were five previous incidents before Singh's initial October arrest, reported between Oct. 16 and 18. Five different women were followed on three separate occasions. There were no reported physical injuries in any of the cases.
In the most recent November incident, police said a 28-year-old woman was in the area of Adelaide Street and Commissioners Road at about 10 a.m. when a man who had been watching her for a period of time ran across the road and grabbed her.
