
Mamata Banerjee vs Centre over evacuation of Indian students from Ukraine amid war

Mamata Banerjee slammed the Centre over its evacuation operation to bring back students and citizens stranded in war-torn Ukraine.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, on her return to Kolkata after campaigning for Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, has tweeted her displeasure over Indian students stranded in war-torn Ukraine, saying that the students should have been evacuated earlier.
"I am very much worried about the lives of the Indian students held up in Ukraine. Life is very precious. Why is it taking so much time to bring them back? Why was not things done earlier?" Mamata Banerjee tweeted.
This is the third time that Mamata Banerjee has attacked the Centre over the evacuation of Indian students from Ukraine. She had earlier claimed that, despite prior information, the Indian government could not bring the students back.

"I urge the Central Government that adequate number of flights be arranged immediately and all the students brought back as soon as possible," she wrote.

The BJP, in the opposition in Bengal, tore into her comments, saying that the chief minister is "opposing, just for the sake of opposition".
