Mamata Banerjee, who is on a four-day visit to Delhi, will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday to discuss multiple issues, including MGNREGA and GST dues in West Bengal.
Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who reached the national Capital Thursday, will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday to discuss multiple issues, including MGNREGA and GST dues for her state. Later in the day, she is also scheduled to meet President Droupadi Murmu.
Mamata's visit comes at a time when the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has been probing Partha Chatterjee, who was removed from all party posts last week following the recovery of a huge amount of cash and gold at his close aide Arpita Mukherjee's flats, over the alleged teacher's recruitment scam.
On Thursday, the central government’s “use of the ED to bulldoze Congress and other Opposition leaders” figured prominently in Mamata's interaction with her party MPs. During the meeting, which was also attended by party national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, the chief minister endorsed the joint Opposition moves during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament, especially those against the BJP’s use of central agencies to raid and arrest Opposition leaders. However, her MPs said she “had acted promptly” in suspending Partha from the party after his “unexpected” arrest.
