West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has called an Opposition meeting in Delhi ahead of presidential polls. For the Opposition, this could prove to be a litmus test of unity ahead of the 2024 general elections.
The TMC chief has invited several Opposition leaders and chief ministers of non-BJP-ruled states to the meet scheduled to be held on June 15 at the Constitution club.
So far, DMK, Shiv sena, SP, NCP, RLD, JDS, PDP, JMM have confirmed that they would attend the meeting against the “divisive forces”. The Aam Aadmi Party is also likely to attend the meeting.
NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Tuesday met CPI leader D Raja and CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury in Delhi to convince both parties to attend the pre-poll meeting.

This meeting comes just days after Congress interim chief Sonia Gandhi, who is currently recovering from Covid, called on all like-minded parties to suggest a 'consensus' candidate.
Sources from the Left camp told India today that a meeting of like-minded parties is scheduled later this week and this is besides the meeting called by Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday.
