A poster showing West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as 'Durga' and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as 'Mahishasur' stirred up a controversy in the state. Calling it an insult to the prime minister and Santan Dharma, a BJP leader said the party will approach the Election Commission over the matter.

The poster also shows Opposition parties as goats with a remark that "if someone else voted for them [Opposition parties], they will be sacrificed."
This has sparked a row in the Madnapur district. Local BJP leader Vipul Acharya said that showing leaders as deities is an insult to Sanatan Dharma. 'It is also an insult to our prime minister and home minister, he said.
Vipul Acharya said that the BJP will complain against this to the Election Commission (EC).
Meanwhile, TMC leader Anima Saha said she does not even know who has put up this poster. According to him, wrong things have been done.
