Malayankunju box office collection Day 2: Fahadh Faasil's film sees slow growth
India Today
Malayankunju is not doing well at the box office collections. Fahadh Faasil's film hardly managed to earn any money on Day 2.
The survival thriller drama Malayankunju released on July 22, Friday. The film features Fahadh Faasil in the lead role, and is directed by Sajimon Prabhakaran. It has been receiving rave reviews from both the audiences and critics. However, it failed to translate in the box office numbers. Malayankunju witnessed a steady growth on Day 2, but the numbers are still very low for a Fahadh Faasil film.
Malayankunju didn't make a decent opening collection at the box office. It made a gross collection of around Rs 1.50 crore on its release day. Even though the survival drama had a slow start at the box office, it is expected to do well in the theatres this weekend. But, that doesn't seem to be the case. According to the trade experts, the Fahadh Faasil-starrer has crossed the Rs 3-crore mark at the box office. Malayankunju delivered a better performance on its second day at the theatres, compared to the release day. However, the numbers are still not impressive. Meanwhile, Malayankunju had an overall 35.79 per cent Malayalam occupancy on Saturday, July 23.
Malayankunju, directed by debutant Shajimon Prabhakar, is produced by Fahadh's father Faasil. C U Soon director Mahesh Narayanan was roped in as the scriptwriter and cinematographer of the film and music by AR Rahman. Rajisha Vijayan was the female lead in this film. Malayankunju is a survival thriller film. It also features Indrans, Jaffar Idukki and Deepak Parambol in supporting roles. The crux of the film is based on a real landslide that took place in the high ranges of Kerala, which resulted in many people losing their lives, home and kin.
