Malaika Arora says she likes being the object of desire, opens up on doing item numbers

Malaika Arora, recently in an interview, opened up about doing item numbers. The actress said that she felt in control.

Malaika Arora has always left us impressed with her oh-so-hot moves, gorgeous pictures and a career that boasts many hits. The actress is also known for always speaking up and never shying away from expressing her opinions. Recently, in an interview, the actress opened up about doing item numbers. Malaika rose to fame with her item number Chaiyya Chaiyya.

Malaika Arora opened up about doing item songs in a recent interview. In a recent conversation with Namrata Zakaria on her podcast Tell Me How You Did It, Malaika said it was liberating for her to do item songs.

“That’s what our films are all about. Let’s not hide that fact, let’s not be shy about the fact. That’s what we celebrate in our films. Our films are a celebration of life, they’re larger than life. Yes, the concept now, in today’s day and age, has really dwindled. Because there’s just so much emphasis on not having to objectify, etc. But when I did it, and when I was a part of all those songs, for me it was liberating. It really was," Malaika Arora said.

She further said that she felt she was in control when she did item numbers. The actress said, “I felt that I could just be on screen, as this woman and this object of desire. For me, it was very liberating. I never looked at it as, ‘Oh my God, you’re being objectified. For me, it felt like I was in control. I’m anyway, one of those women, I like being in control, I like being the master of my own destiny.”

Other than Chaiyya Chaiyya, Malaika Arora has appeared in many other songs, like Munni Badmaan Hui, Anarkali Disco Chali, and many more.
