Optimus is Tesla’s prototype of a humanoid robot - work on the experimental test robot had begun this February, the company said.
As two boards, with two robot palms forming a heart, slid apart onstage, out walked ‘Optimus’ to cheers and applause. It walked up to the front of the stage and waved at Tesla CEO Elon Musk, standing at the other end of the stage.

Another video, retweeted by Musk, showed Optimus waving at the crowd and dancing. “This is literally the first time the robot has operated without a tether was onstage tonight,” the presenter said as the humanoid robot walked back.
According to Musk, millions of Optimus can be produced by the electric vehicle maker and sold for $20,000 apiece - way cheaper than some of Tesla’s cars.
