The majority of Canadians are changing the way they shop for groceries as food prices climb at the fastest pace since 1981, according to a report by Dalhousie University’s Agri-Food Analytics Lab.
The survey, which was done in partnership with Caddle, found the top ways Canadians are trying to save money with their grocery bill are by using loyalty programs (33.7 per cent), reading weekly flyers (32.1 per cent) and using more coupons (23.9 per cent.)
Only 27.4 per cent of respondents said they have not made any changes to save money at the grocery store.
“It appears Canadians are proactively seeking different ways to save at the grocery store,” said Sylvain Charlebois, director of the Agri-Food Analytics Lab at Dalhousie University.
