As California deals with an ongoing crime wave, voters will have the opportunity to support a measure that would increase penalties for shoplifting, forgery and drug dealing.
In the poll, conducted by the Public Policy Institute of California, 71% of likely voters say they will vote "yes" on "Prop 36" – the ballot initiative that seeks to make such revisions. Charles Creitz is a reporter for Fox News Digital.
The highest support came from residents of the Inland Empire east of San Diego and bordering Arizona – at 79% – with the lowest coming from the Bay Area at 64%. He joined Fox News in 2013 as a writer and production assistant.
