The Thunder Bay Police Service's major crimes unit and forensic identification unit investigated an area on the city's south side Sunday, according to a news release from the police force.

Police officers were present in the area at the 400 block of McKellar Street North where it meets the 800 block of Finlayson Street, the release said.

The release advised that there would a visible police presence remaining in the area as the investigation was ongoing.

The police presence was first reported by TBNewswatch Saturday evening.
