Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday asked people to maintain discipline if they don’t want Covid restrictions to be imposed in the state. He appealed to the citizens to wear masks and get vaccinated and said the state government will be keeping an eye on the Covid cases in the next two weeks.
Uddhav Thackeray held discussions with the members of the Covid task force committee and discussed the situation in the state. He said the number of active cases in the state has increased seven times in just a month and a half. Maharashtra recorded 626 active Covid cases on April 16. The number rose to 4500 active cases on June 2.

He also asked the committee to check the condition of the field hospitals built during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic. “They should be subjected to structural audit. The health department has been instructed to check whether there are medical staff and necessary infrastructure in the area,” said Thackeray.
Thackeray also said efforts should be made to increase the number of Covid tests being conducted in the state.
The chief minister spoke on the opening of schools and said the decision should be taken at the global level regarding schools and the state of children’s education during the pandemic.
