Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV teased, will be unveiled on September 8
India Today
The Mahindra XUV400 is the all-electric version of the XUV300 and will take the fight to India's best-selling electric car, Tata Nexon EV. It will be officially unveiled on September 8, 2022.
Having showcased a prototype at the Auto Expo in February 2020, Mahindra is finally ready to reveal the production version of its electric SUV based on the XUV300. Christened Mahindra XUV400, the electric SUV has been teased ahead of its debut on September 8, 2022.
The teaser doesn't reveal much besides the name and reveal date. However, it does indicate that the Twin Peak logo in Copper that was revealed for the XUV sub-brand, one of two eSUV labels that were announced recently along with five all-electric concepts, will make an appearance on the XUV400. The copper colour theme will extend to the grille as well. The XUV400 is also likely to sport a different set of headlamps, tail lamps and bumpers compared to the XUV300.
Expected to be positioned in the Rs 15 to 20 lakh space, the XUV400 could get a 30-40kWh battery back and a claimed range of around 300-400km. The '400' in the name stands for 400km range perhaps? Exact specifications will be shared once the eSUV is unveiled. While the Tata Nexon EV Prime and Nexon EV Max are likely to be its primary rivals priced between Rs 14.99 lakh and Rs 19.84 lakh (ex-showroom), the entry-level MG ZS EV priced at Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom) can be viewed as an alternative as well.
With the upcoming XUV400 and the recent unveiling of five eSUV prototypes and the dedicated INGLO EV architecture developed in conjunction with Volkswagen, Mahindra is looking to double down on its electric mobility strategy, expecting EVs to account for 25 per cent of its sales by 2030.
