Mahesh Bhatt has heaped praise on Brahmastra director Ayan Mukerji. He has called the filmmaker 'James Cameron of Indian cinema'.
Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra has taken the box office by storm. Ever since it hit the big screen on September 9, the Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt-starrer has set the cash registers ringing. The film has already minted over Rs 400 crore at the global box office. After the success of Brahmatsra, fans are now looking forward to watching Part 2 and 3 on the silver screen. Amid this, Mahesh Bhatt has lauded Brahmastra and the film's director Ayan Mukerji.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Mahesh Bhatt shared his thoughts after watching Brahmastra, featuring Ranbir and Alia. "I was dazzled by Brahmastra. When I saw the film, I felt that this is a quantum leap and I have no hesitation in saying that Ayan is the James Cameron of the Indian cinema world," he said.
The filmmaker further added, "Of course, it required Disney and the likes of Uday Shankar and Karan Johar and the support of Ranbir and Alia and Ayan’s entire team, but I think that it is something quite amazing."
While fans wait with bated breath for the upcoming Brahmastra films, Ayan has shared an exciting update on the film's follow-ups. During a recently concluded event, the filmmaker revealed that he is planning to release Brahmastra 2 by Diwali 2025 and the third part by Christmas 2026.
"We have a release date target, to be honest. 3 years from now, which is somewhere around Diwali 2025. For part 3, our target is 1 year after that [release of Brahmastra part 2]. I say Diwali 2025 and Christmas 2026. I say this with a disclaimer because we have said this on Brahmastra also, and I think we had about 6 release dates on Brahmastra part 1," he said.
