Maharashtra logs 4,205 new Covid-19 cases, 3 deaths

Maharashtra has recorded 4,205 new Covid-19 cases on Friday.
Maharashtra on Friday recorded 4,205 new cases of Covid-19, whereas 3 deaths owing to the infection were also reported in the state.
The daily Covid-19 case figures had crossed 5,000 on Thursday.
According to the latest report from the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), Nagpur, one patient of BA.5 variant has been reported from Nagpur.
The patient is a 27-year-old fully vaccinated female who tested positive for Covid-19 on June 19. The female was mild symptomatic initially, but at present she is asymptomatic, stable and in home isolation.
With this, the total tally of BA.4 & BA.5 variant cases found in the state has reached 26. Pune has reported 15 cases so far, followed by Mumbai 5, Nagpur 4 and Thane 2.
The state administration informed that lakhs of devotees are walking towards Pandharpur for this year’s Ashadhi Wari and the state has kept an eye on the rising Covid-19 cases. The count of active cases in the state has reached 25 thousand, compared to 626 active cases a couple of months back.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackerey held a meeting with all District Collectors, Municipal Commissioners and District Police Superintendents through a video conference. Now given the movement of people during the Ashadhi Wari, the possibility of increased transmission of Covid-19 cannot be denied.
