The Maharashtra ATS seized 1.7 kg of heroin, Rs 2.6 lakh cash, two mobile phones and other incriminating material used for selling drugs.
Maharashtra ATS seized heroin worth Rs 25.17 crore concealed in a shoe cavity during a search operation conducted in Palghar district of Maharashtra.
The operation was carried out by the ATS Juhu Unit and Thane unit on the intervening nights of February 4 and 5.
The late night operation resulted in the seizure of 1,724 gms (1.7 kg) of heroin, a narcotics drug valued at Rs 25.17 crores in the international market, cash of Rs 2.6 lakh, two mobile phones and other incriminating material used for selling narcotics drugs.

A case has been registered under the relevant sections of NDPS Act 1985. Two accused, Alim Md Akhtar (46) and Chhota Md Nasir (40), residents of a village in Haridwar District of Uttarakhand, have been arrested. The accused are remanded in ATS custody till February 15.
It was revealed in the initial investigation that a person from a neighbouring state was the supplier of the seized contraband. His modus operandi was to supply the drug in a secret chamber created in a new pair of shoes. The two arrested persons along with their third partner were operating from a rented apartment in Vasai. From there, the accused were further supplying the narcotics drugs to the traffickers in Mumbai. Further investigation in the case is underway.
The operation was carried out as per the directions of Maharashtra ATS chief Vineet Agarwal and under the supervision of SP Rajkumar Shinde, ACP Siddheshwar Gove and several other members of ATS Juhu and Thane units.
