Madras High Court dismisses petition to ban Kangana Ranaut's Thalaivi
India Today
On April 16, Madras High Court dismissed the petition filed by J Deepa, niece of former Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa. Deepa accused the makers of showing the life of the former CM in a negative light in Thalaivi.
Kangana Ranaut-starrer Thalaivi that was slated for a theatrical release on April 23 was recently postponed due to the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the country. On April 16, the niece of the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, J Deepa, filed a petition in the High Court seeking a ban on the screening of the film Thalaivi. According to the petition, J Deepa feared that the film would depict J Jayalalithaa’s personal life in a negative light, which might affect the family’s privacy. When J Deepa filed her petition in court regarding the makers of Thalaivi not taking due permission before writing the dialogues, script and story of the film, director AL Vijay appealed in court that the film was based on Vaasanthi’s book of the same name. He also said that the film shows the life of J Jayalalithaa in a positive light and all the information is already accessible to the public through mass media.More Related News
