
Madras HC dismisses Suriya's plea seeking interest waiver for income tax

On Tuesday, August 17, Madras High Court dismissed a writ petition filed by Suriya seeking waiver of interest for the income tax assessment for 2007-2008 and 2008-2009. According to the order by the Income Tax Department, the Jai Bhim actor was asked to pay over Rs 3.11 crore in 2011.
The Madras High Court on Tuesday, August 17, dismissed the writ petition filed by Suriya seeking waiver of interest for the income tax assessment for two financial years (2007-2009). In 2010, the Income Tax (IT) Department conducted a search operation at the Navarasa actor’s residence and after assessment, asked him to pay Rs 3.11 crore, according to a Times Of India report. The actor moved the case to the High Court in 2018 seeking exemption from the waiver of interest for the income tax assessment.More Related News
