Madhavan is a proud dad as his son Vedaant set a new record at the Junior National Aquatics. He broke the previous holder’s record of 16 minutes and achieved a new milestone. The Rocketry actor took to Twitter to share his excitement with the world. Vedaant emerged as the winner in the 1500m freestyle event at the ongoing 48th Junior National Aquatic Championships, which is being held at Bhubaneswar.
Often, Madhavan shares his son Vedaant's achievements on social media. In several interviews, he spoke about his son's passion for the sport.
On July 17, Vedaant made his family proud when he emerged first in the 1500m freestyle event. He clocked 6:01.73 to erase his state-mate Advait Page's previously held record. Madhavan took to Twitter to share the excitement and wrote, "Never say never. National Junior Record for 1500m freestyle broken (sic)."

Vedaant has won several medals in swimming competitions in India and in other countries as well. In an interview with an entertainment portal, he revealed that he wants to make a name for himself. He said, "I didn’t wanna live under my dad’s shadow. I wanted to make a name for myself. I didn’t want to be just R Madhavan's son.”
Earlier this year, Madhavan and his wife, Sarita, moved to Dubai so Vedaant could get access to better swimming pools.
