The NIA arrested Delhi-based businessman Kabir Talwar in the Mundra port drug haul case. The owner of seven pubs has a wide range of many luxury and expensive cars.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday arrested Delhi-based businessman Kabir Talwar, in connection with the Mundra Port drug bust, where around 3,000 kg of heroin was recovered. Kabir Talwar is the owner of the Playboy club in Delhi’s Samrat hotel. The NIA also arrested Prince Sharma, another businessman, in connection with the case.
According to NIA sources, Talwar, also known as Harpreet Talwar, was the kingpin on the Indian side, who allegedly smuggled drugs, sold them to different peddlers and sent the money made from it to people in Afghanistan using hawala channels, who in turn funded terror groups.
“The arrested accused are a part of an international drug smuggling network involved in smuggling of large commercial quantities of heroin originating from Afghanistan into India. Heroin was being concealed in import consignments of material, such as semi-processed talc, bituminous coal, etc,” said NIA in a statement.
“The accused were involved in the import of narcotics through fake/shell import companies and further facilitated its transport to Delhi-based Afghan nationals involved in purification and distribution of heroin in many states, including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and UP,” read the statement.
Kabir Talwar is currently running Delhi’s top-notch clubs and restaurants, including the Playboy club in Samrat hotel. The Playboy club is a part of the chain of night clubs, resorts and magazines owned and operated by playboy enterprise which came into being in 1960 in Chicago, Illinois, US.
In an interview to a magazine, Talwar claimed his business journey started at the age of 16.
On his Instagram profile, Talwar claims to be on the Forbes list and also claims that he owns more than seven pubs.
