Lumpy virus kills 236 cattle in UP, affects 25 districts across state

With the rapid increase of Lumpy virus cases across the state, more than 25,000 cattle have been infected while 236 have lost their lives in Uttar Pradesh.
The Lumpy virus is rapidly spreading across several districts in Uttar Pradesh. So far, 236 cattle have succumbed to the virus while there are more than 25,000 cases across 2,600 villages in 25 districts.
As many as 15 lakh cattle are currently in the infection zone. The catastrophic effect of the virus is not only visible in animals but it has also affected the production of milk and other businesses related to it.
Of the affected districts, the highest number of cases have been reported in Aligarh, Muzaffarnagar and Saharanpur. At the same time, the virus is spreading rapidly in Mathura, Bulandshahr, Baghpat, Hapur, Meerut, Shamli and Bijnor.

So far, 25,122 cows from 2,600 villages have been infected due to the Lumpy virus, out of which 236 have died, while 13000 have recovered.
To control the menace of the Lumpy virus, the Uttar Pradesh government made a 300 km long immune belt from Pilibhit to Etawah.
This immune belt passes through Bisalpur, Barkheda, Lalorikheda, Marori and Amaria development blocks of Pilibhit district via Khudaganj, Nigohi, Sidhauli, Bhawal Kheda, Kant, Jalalabad and Mirzapur development blocks of Shahjahanpur district, Kaimganj, Shamsabad and Rajepur development blocks of Farrukhabad district. via Kurawali of Mainpuri district, Sultanganj and Ghirour development blocks and Badhpura, Jaswantnagar, Saifai, Basrehar and Takha development blocks of Etawah.
