Lucknow reality check: Patients lie on stretchers outside, kin roam for beds in hospitals as Covid sweeps city
India Today
India Today TV reached the KGMU hospital in Lucknow to check the ground situation where a dozen Covid and non-Covid patients could be seen lying outside on stretchers, their relatives roaming the premises, waiting for their admission.
With a fresh wave of the Covid-19 pandemic sweeping through Uttar Pradesh, the system in capital Lucknow's Covid and non-Covid hospitals seems to be collapsing. Covid patients are suffering due to a lack of beds and ventilators in designated hospitals. On the other hand, even in non-Covid hospitals, patients are seen waiting on the road due to a lack of beds. Many have been forced to roam from hospital to hospital in search of a bed. On Thursday, the trauma centre of the King George Medical University (KGMU) was flooded with patients. The patient lay on stretchers outside the hospital gate from morning till afternoon waiting to be admitted.More Related News
