Lucknow: Man arrested for duping 250 job aspirants by posing as IAS/IPS officer

A man, resident of village Samdaha in Lucknow's Sant Kabir Nagar has been arrested for allegedly duping around 250 job aspirants on the pretext of getting them admitted into reputed and prestigious government departments.
Police on Wednesday arrested a man for allegedly duping around 250 job aspirants in Lucknow on the pretext of getting them admitted into reputed and prestigious government departments, including IAS, IPS, NIC (National Information Center), Anti Corruption, field officer in Intelligence Bureau (IB).
The accused, identified as Prateek Kumar Mishra, allegedly used voice changers to call people and posed as IAS/IPS officer, further defrauding job seekers worth crores.
Meanwhile, after receiving several complaints about fake job rackets, the Special Task Force swung into action and launched an investigation into the matter.
Probe revealed that using Covid times as an opportunity, Prateek Kumar, posing as IPS officer, made about 250 job seekers to register for work from home data entry jobs and even charged about Rs 6,500- Rs 25,000 each for the same.
However, he later fled with all the money.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Special Task Force (STF) led by Vibhuti Division Police Commissionerate arrested the accused at around 4.30 PM on Wednesday from Lucknow's Vibhutikhand.
During sustained interrogation, Prateek revealed how he moved to Lucknow in 2020 and defrauded a number of people over the years on the pretext of getting them recruited.
